Rolling tobacco prices by country

As of 31 October 2026: the price of 30 g of rolling tobacco in the 12 countries where we have an official or shop price. The highest is in the United Kingdom (36.05 €); in France, 30 g cost 19.01 €.

Reference price: Golden Virginia, in the size closest to 30 g sold in the country, brought to 30 g so countries compare. Prices come from the official list where the country publishes one (France, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Spain, Andorra, and Morocco), otherwise from a survey of shops in the country, marked as such. Euro amounts use the current exchange rate.

Country by country

Last column: a pack of 20 Marlboro in the same country, in euros, to show the price level. The two do not compare cigarette by cigarette: how many cigarettes 30 g make varies from one smoker to another.

Method and sources

One price per country, for the same brand wherever it is sold. Price brought to 30 g: pack price ÷ its weight × 30. No price is estimated: a country without an official list or a reliable survey is left out. The same method is described on our data page, with the downloadable file.

• United Kingdom: Golden Virginia The Original 30 g: £30.55 (shop survey, 31 October 2026). In the United Kingdom each retailer sets its own price: we use Tesco's, the country's largest chain. Tesco, via trolley.co.uk (Waitrose : £31.50)
• France: Golden Virginia Original 40 g: 25.35 € (official list, 1 September 2026). Douane, prix de vente au détail au 1er novembre 2026 (inchangé depuis la liste du 1er septembre 2026)
