ℹ️ About cigprices.com
Our mission
cigprices.com is an independent, free information site. Our goal: to gather, clearly and neutrally, tobacco prices around the world, their evolution since 2000, customs rules, and resources to help people quit smoking.
Who is behind the site
cigprices.com is created and run by Bryan Schmitt, an IT project manager specialising in automation and API integration. He builds the price series from public sources, official ones where they exist, shows how reliable each price is, and publishes the method and the data. He is not a health professional: the pages about quitting smoking summarise studies and official guidance, and are not medical advice.
Transparent data
- •We compile prices from public sources (customs data, official studies, price surveys) and show the last-updated date and sources on the relevant pages.
- •In each country, Marlboro is the reference brand. In France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Morocco, Germany and Belgium, most brands' prices are taken from official lists or from retailers. Elsewhere, other brands are not surveyed: their price is calculated from Marlboro's by a fixed ratio. These prices are marked "estimate", and every price carries a reliability level (high, medium or low).
- •Displayed prices are estimates provided for guidance only. We encourage verifying them with official sources for any important use.
How the articles are prepared
Articles are prepared with the help of artificial intelligence tools, from primary sources (official texts, studies, public data) cited at the end of each article. Bryan Schmitt checks those sources, reviews every article before publication and is accountable for it.
Our stance on tobacco
This site sells no tobacco products and does not promote smoking. On the contrary, it highlights information and quit-smoking support. Smoking seriously harms your health and that of those around you.
How the site is funded
