💰 Belastingregime
The Tunisian market is a state monopoly: MTT sets prices and transfers part to the state as taxes. There is no classic excise system — the price is directly administered. Price increases reflect both revenue needs and an emerging public health policy.
📈 Prijsbeleid
Tunisian prices have risen significantly since 2015, but remain among the lowest in the Mediterranean. The state hesitates to increase too sharply for social reasons (tobacco very popular among working-class populations).
